BARACK Obama is charging Scots nearly £2000 for a meet and greet in Glasgow.
The former US president is heading to the Ovo Hydro on October 14 as part of his UK speaking tour, where he will discuss "what comes next – for America, for all of us".
He will also appear in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and in Manchester in England.
Obama served as the 44th US president, between 2009 and 2017, and was the first black president to be elected.
General admission tickets for the event are listed from £32.90, although they appear to have sold out – with the cheapest tickets available on Ticketmaster at the time of writing selling at £89.65.
However, for £1707 Scots can book a VIP package which includes "a photo opportunity with President Barack Obama", early entry into the venue, a designated VIP check in, a "commemorative ticket" and a copy of Obama's memoir, A Promised Land.
Promoters have warned that purchasing the VIP package does not guarantee the opportunity to meet Obama, but that it is "contingent upon security clearance".
A disclaimer on the Ovo Hydro website states: "Upon purchase, you agree to undergo thorough security checks and identity verification.
"Orders may be cancelled without notice if required security checks are not passed."
Other VIP packages include guaranteed seating in the front row for £679.95, guaranteed seating in the second row for £566.35, or guaranteed seating in the front 10 rows for £434.70.
The speaking event is being advertised as "a rare chance to hear President Obama's message in person", one of "hope, resilience, and the belief that ordinary people, together, can still shape what comes next".
It comes as America marks 250 years since the Declaration of Independence.
Obama previously visited Glasgow in 2021 for the COP26 climate conference.
