Bappi Lahiri’s prayer meet: Chitrani Lahiri with Bappa and Reema, Shraddha Kapoor, Ila Arun and others remember the Disco King

Legendary singer-composer Bappi Lahiri left for heavenly abode on February 16 after suffering from multiple health issues. Mourning his demise, a prayer meeting is taking place today in Mumbai, Juhu’s ISKCON.

Celebrities from the industry have started arriving to join the late singer's grieving wife, Chitrani Lahiri, son Bappa and daughter Reema. Only a while ago late actor Om Puri’s son and wife were snapped outside the venue. They were joined by Shraddha Kapoor, Ila Arun and others as well.

Earlier, the Disco King’s family had issued a statement, “With profound grief and sorrow we share with you that on 15th February 2022 our beloved Shri Bappi Lahiri has left for his heavenly abode”.

"Lahiri had been admitted to the hospital for a month and was discharged on Monday. But his health deteriorated on Tuesday and his family called for a doctor to visit their home. He was brought to the hospital. He had multiple health issues," Dr Deepak Namjoshi told PTI. His death cause is said to be Obstructive Sleep Apnea.

The mortal remains of Bappi Lahiri were cremated at the Vile Parle Crematorium on February 17. The last rites were performed by his son Bappa who returned from LA after the untimely demise. Talking to ETimes, the singer’s son recently shared that he won't be going back to the US anytime soon. “I still can't believe that he(Bappi Lahiri) is not around. I was his arranger. I used to do shows with him. There are so many memories. The love we are getting from everyone is unbelievable, my Dad was not just a musician or singer, he connected with everyone- right from a porter to a rickshawallah to every single soul," an emotional Bappa said.
