Banner hung on A52 bridge issues grovelling apology to 'James'

A mystery person has issued a grovelling apology to a man called "James" over a bridge on the A52.

A blue banner displaying the apology hangs over the busy dual-carriageway near the turn-off for Spondon, reports DerbyshireLive.

It simply says "I'm sorry James" - with the word sorry underlined - and it is accompanied by a sad cartoon face.

The meaning of the sign is not clear but thousands of drivers will have seen the banner since it went up some time in the last 48 hours.

It is not the first time home-made signs have appeared above the A52. Banners connected to Brexit and football have been spotted in recent months.

And, elsewhere in the UK, Derby County fans were mocked with an M1 banner which  called the Rams a "failure since 2007" following the team's play-off final defeat in May .
