THANE: Three persons have been arrested for allegedly smuggling banned tobacco products worth more than Rs 3 lakh in an express train in Maharashtra's Thane district, police said on Saturday.
The police seized 24 bags containing the contraband worth RS 3.58 lakh on board UP Chhapra Express at Kalyan railway station on Friday afternoon, an official said.
Offences under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Food and Security Act have been registered against the trio, he said.
