A banned driver took police on a lengthy pursuit along main roads while armed with an extendable baton.
Liam Storey, who has now been caught driving while disqualified at least five times since 2018, led officers on a chase along Newcastle's Central Motorway and other areas of the city and Gateshead.
A court heard that when the uninsured motor menace was finally stopped in his Ford Transit and arrested he refused to provide a specimen of blood for analysis.
And, when he was in custody at Forth Banks Police Station, the 30-year-old was also found to be in possession of an extendable baton.
Now, Storey, of Eastern Way, in Kenton, Newcastle, is facing a likely prison sentence after he pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, failing to provide a specimen for analysis and possession of an offensive weapon.
James Long, prosecuting at North Tyneside Magistrates' Court, said the offences happened on June 21 this year.
"This is a lengthy police pursuit along the Central Motorway and roads in the Newcastle and Gateshead area," Mr Long added.
"It is also aggravated by the attached offences of failing to provide, driving while disqualified and possession of the extendable baton.
"I would invite you to commit this case to the crown court for sentence."
Alanna Wesencraft, defending, said: "Your guidelines are clear and this is a crown court case."
Magistrates committed Storey to Newcastle Crown Court and ordered that a Pre-Sentence Report be prepared in the meantime.
Despite already being banned, they also made Storey subject of a further interim disqualification until he next appears in court.
Storey was released on unconditional bail and will next appear before a judge at Newcastle Crown Court on October 28.
