Banned driver told police he was on 'a day out' during lockdown

A banned driver was caught on a "day out" during lockdown in a completely unregistered car.

The brazen act was shared on Twitter after officers discovered the vehicle while on patrol on Tuesday.

According to the Roads Policing Unit, the driver was disqualified from driving and the car did not have any documents including insurance and registration.

Officers also slammed the driver who reportedly stated that his reason for being out during the government-imposed lockdown was a "day out".

The driver was reported for all the offences by police and the car was seized at the scene.

On Twitter, a spokesperson for Merseyside's Roads Policing Unit said: "If you’re disqualified from driving & using a car without any documents to it’s name.

"Probably not wise to travel to various parts of Merseyside for “a day out” during lockdown.

"Stopped using pre-emptive tactics to avoid a pursuit. Seized and reported for all offences."
