A man who was banned from driving was caught behind the wheel going for a takeaway. It came just days after he completed a motoring course to prevent him from reoffending.
Zaishan Jahangir, who was jailed for his part in an armed robbery in Bolton 13 years ago, was more recently handed a suspended sentence in 2022 for dangerous driving. This banned him from the roads for a period of at least two years.
But, on March 11 this year, he was caught out on CCTV parking his Renault Meghan on double yellow lines in Chapel Street, Chorley. Preston Crown Court heard that after doing this, he walked into a nearby takeaway before retuning to the car and driving off.

LancsLive reports that the 31-year-old, now of Sycamore Road, Chorley admitted he drove to the takeaway, where he worked, to drop a set of keys off. Neil Ronan, defending, said: "He was only in there a few minutes."
The court heard that five days before the offence, Jahangir completed a 'Thinking Skills' course with the Probation Service. Mr Ronan said the outcome of Jahangir's laziness put his family at risk of him being jailed if the suspended sentence was activated.
"One take would be that he doesn't have any respect for authority", he said. "The other would be that he isn't a rocket scientist and has no thinking skills, and hasn't kept his diary in a sensible fashion."
Judge Simon Medland KC handed him an eight week sentence suspended for 12 months and ordered him to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work. He said: "On this occasion you have escaped prison but you have an awful lot riding on your shoulders, a wife, children, a job, things many people do not have. Please don't throw it away."
