KOLKATA: The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of CID investigating the Bankura child trafficking case questioned five accused, who are lodged in jail, on Thursday. Sources in the state investigating agency hinted that they had got leads on the inter-state gang.
“The AHTU officers, if required, are set to raid a couple of places in Rajasthan. However, we will need to collect some more statements from Bankura before we take the call,” said an officer. The CID team said they were trying to lay their hands on a “contract” allegedly prepared by the accused to sell children.
CID produced three accused in court on Thursday and sought police custody of one, identified as Satish Thakur. The court granted police custody of Thakur for two days and two others were sent to jail custody for two weeks.
The CID took over the probe into the child trafficking case a week ago. Nine persons, including the main culprits, were arrested last Sunday. They include government school principal Kamalkumar Rajoria, teacher Sushma Sharma and her husband, Thakur. The cops had rescued five children, who were sent to a government home.
