Banksy unveils new work in home during coronavirus lockdown - and his wife isn't happy

Elusive artist Banksy has revealed his latest collection of work - and it's in his own home due to the coronavirus lockdown.

Instead of using street walls to showcase his talents, the artist has turned his attention to his own bathroom with five images featuring rats.

On Wednesday night the street artist from Bristol posted five images on Instagram with the caption: “My wife hates it when I work from home”.

The rodents are pictured knocking the bathroom mirror to one side and hanging on the light pull, some are swinging on a towel ring and stepping on a tube of toothpaste while another looks like it is urinating against the toilet seat.

One rat is using a mirror to keep note of the days in lockdown using a red lipstick, while another is skipping on a roll of toilet paper, which has rolled down and across the floor.

Toilet paper was one of the most stockpiled items when panic-buying began in supermarkets across the UK.

Banksy fans have hailed his latest collection 'a masterpiece'.

One commented: "Just made your restroom worth more than your whole house."

Another said: "Banksy wins Instagram."

The post has clocked up an eye-watering 1.8 million likes in just a few hours and comes as the government is set to extend the nation's lockdown by a further three weeks control the spread of Covid-19 which has now claimed the lives of 12,868 people.

Thousands of workers have been getting on with their jobs from the confines of their homes including Banksy.

Last October Banksy was forced to open a physical shop or lose rights to his own work following a legal dispute.

But, not being a big fan of consumerism, he didn't let anyone in.

That didn't stop the shop becoming a big attraction, with crowds forming and people travelling for miles to peer through the window of his Gross Domestic Product store in Croydon.

Fans and collectors alike were able to get their hands on some of his iconic designs from mugs and T-shirts to the actual stab-vest worn by Stormzy at Glastonbury.
