Banksy on Marsh Lane has been updated with masked man trying to pry off protective layer

An artwork by Banksy, which was painted on a home in Barton Hill in 2020 appears to have been updated, almost two years after it first appeared.

The Valentine's-themed work appeared in February 2020, and shows a small child catapulting red roses into the air, but due to vandals the work has been protected, but it means most of it can no longer be seen.

A huge peice of wood covers the small child, while the roses are covered over with plastic sheeting.

But today, a Bristol Live photographer noticed a masked man with a crowbar has been added, appearing to try and remove the covering and free the art work so people can see it for themselves.

The Bristolian street artist confirmed the original piece was his the day after it first appeared, but has yet to update his social media channels or website with the new version.

After the work was vandalised, with someone spray-painting "BCC w*****s" over it, the artist said on Instagram he was "kind of glad" as the original sketch was a lot better.

Heart-broken residents however, expressed their dismay which is what led to the current measures to protect the artwork.
