Bank of Scotland launches new green mortgage deal offering £250 cashback to energy conscious homebuyers

Bank of Scotland is set to launch a Green Mortgage Cashback offer next week offering £250 to those buying the most energy efficient homes.

From Monday, July 26, homebuyers and movers purchasing a property with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) or Predicted Energy Assessment (PEA) rating of A or B can take advantage of the new Green Mortgage Cashback offer.

Commenting on the new deal, Graham Blair, Head of Mortgages at Bank of Scotland, said: “The Green Mortgage Cashback offer follows on from our Green Living Reward campaign, which helped buyers making eligible energy efficient home improvements, such as A-Rated double and triple glazing, loft insulation and new insulated UPVC external doors."

He added: “Our new Green Mortgage Cashback offer continues our work to help make Britain’s homes more energy efficient. This addition to our product range demonstrates another way that we are working towards our Group climate ambitions of halving our financed emissions by 2030.”

The £250 cashback offer is available on purchases of a main residence only, second home loans and remortgages are not eligible.

The Green Mortgage Cashback offer includes:

  • £250 cashback on completion
  • Available on selected Halifax mortgage products
  • Applicable for First Time Buyer, home mover, Shared-Equity-Shared-Ownership and New Build mortgages
  • For borrowing below 85% LTV
  • Available on properties with an A/B EPC or PEA

The EPC rating of the property will be requested as part of the mortgage application, with mortgage advisers and brokers required to verify the appropriate certification. If the EPC rating is A or B, the cashback reward will be applied - customers don’t need to do anything additional to benefit.

The Green Mortgage Cashback will be available through Bank of Scotland branches and by calling 0345 300 2297 from July 26.
