Bank of Scotland, Halifax and Lloyds online banking down as users left waiting

Thousands of customers have been locked out of their online banking accounts amid technical issues leaving some unable to make essential payments.

Bank of Scotland, Halifax and Lloyds all reported issues with their digital systems on Monday morning, despite some customer help pages suggesting they were functioning as normal.

Bank transfers using apps appear to have been affected by the outage, with users reporting on social media that they are unable to make payments online.

BoS said they were working to fix “intermittent issues” and would update customers when the system was back online, though gave no indication of how long that would take.

Payments in shops using Lloyds Bank, Halifax and Bank of Scotland debit and credit cards do not appear to be affected by the same issues.

However customers have been locked out of certain app features, with both Lloyds and Halifax encouraging them to close down the programme and reboot it.

That workaround did not fix the issue for many, leaving them awaiting further updates.

A Tweet from BoS read : “We know some of our customers are having intermittent issues logging onto Internet banking at the moment.

“We're sorry about this and working to have it back to normal soon.”
