Bank Holiday weekend weather forecast for Greater Manchester - and it's not great

Greater Manchester is in for a dry bank holiday weekend, according to weather forecasters.

The Met Office is predicting that it will be largely dry, with some sunny spells, particularly on Saturday and Monday.

On Saturday and Sunday highs of 16C are predicted, with temperatures expected to reach 17C on Monday.

Saturday will be breezy, but the wind is expected to calm down from Sunday.

It is going to start getting much colder after the sun goes down however, with some 'chilly' nights now on the cards.

Today (Thursday), conditions are expected to turn wet and cloudy in the north west, although the winds will stay light.

During the afternoon, a period of more prolonged rain may creep into the south of the region.

Winds will be light, with maximum temperatures of 18 °C.

There are expected to be showers or longer spells of rain persisting through the evening and into Thursday night, though the south of the region should become largely dry by dawn.

It will become windier by the morning, before rain pushes in, gradually becoming patchier in nature.

Forecasters say the rain will largely fizzle out during Friday afternoon, allowing some sunny spells to come through.

It will be a breezy day with maximum temperatures of 17 °C.
