Bank holiday weather forecast 2022: Latest Met Office predictions for the UK May bank holidays

Liverpool will be colder than Norway this bank holiday weekend as a cold front moves across the country.

Saturday will be dry and bright with sunny spells across Britain but it will be cloudy further north with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. It will then be mainly cloudy on Sunday with outbreaks of patchy light rain and drizzle clearing to reveal some brighter spells later.

Monday will be dry in many places, but cold air will move in from the north, causing temperatures to drop. In their forecast, the Met Office said: "Saturday will be a dry day with plenty of warm sunny spells.

"Patchy rain arriving Saturday night, lingering in places through Sunday. Brighter once more for bank holiday Monday." Temperatures in Liverpool on Saturday and Sunday will be around 13°C.

Temperatures will rise slightly to 14°C on Monday. However, compared to much of Europe, Liverpool will be fairly cool, with Oslo in Norway set to record highs of 16°C this weekend.

BBC meteorologist Chris Fawkes added: "After this lengthy spell of dry weather caused by high pressure we're actually going to see some changes into the weekend. It starts to weaken to allow this weather front to move in from the north and west."
