Bank holiday rush sees shoppers hit with huge queues at Leeds supermarket

Images have been shared on social media of the huge queues forming at a Leeds supermarket.

Amy Harwood posted a photo of the scene outside the Tesco store in Seacroft on Thursday morning, on community Facebook group leedsplace. The queues stretched back beyond the car park and along the road next to the store at around 11.20am.

It comes as we head into a three-day weekend, with Friday's bank holiday marking VE day celebrations on the 75th anniversary.

Some supermarkets will be operating different opening hours on Friday but all supermarkets will remain open - and will not resort to Sunday limited opening hours like seen on previous bank holidays. For example, Lidl and Aldi are shutting their stores two hours early at 8pm.

But Tesco and Asda have confirmed that opening hours will stay the same as previous Fridays during the coronavirus outbreak. While, Marks and Spencer will honour it's Friday policy for NHS, emergency and care workers to be able to shop for the first hour of trading.
