While not quite the weather most would have hoped for after the previous months’ blistering heat, Monday’s August bank holiday represents the denouement of many people's summer break before the bite of autumn arrives.
For those opting to spend some of their last few hours of vacation wandering around a supermarket, hardware outlet or department store, the list below should provide the important details on opening times.
Supermarkets:
Tesco
Stores in England and Wales will open from 9am to 6pm. All Tesco Metro stores will also open from 9am to 6pm and all Express stores open normal hours. In London and Scotland, Extra and Superstore branches will open from 8am to 10pm.
Sainsbury’s
Opening hours will be amended. Check with their store finder to see the timings for your local branch.
Asda
There will be reduced hours so the retailer recommends checking with their store finder to see information for your local branch.
Lidl
Stores will be open from 8am to 8pm.
Aldi
Aldi is following suit and will be open from 8am to 8pm.
Morrisons
The majority of stores will open from 8am to 9pm. Morrisons supermarkets in Scotland will open from 7am.
Hardware stores:
B&Q
Most stores will be open between 7am and 9pm.
Homebase
Stores will open between 7am and 8pm.
Wickes
Stores will be open as usual between 8am and 8pm.
Screwfix
7am to 8pm for most stores, like normal.
Halfords
Running as usual, 9am to 6pm.
High street:
Argos
Reduced hours, with most stores open from 9am-5.30pm. Times do vary so check the store finder.
Debenhams
Some stores are open till 10pm although most outlets will do a 9am to 6pm. Best to check with their store finder.
John Lewis
Most stores open from 10am-6pm. Again, check with their store finder.
Marks & Spencer
Stores will open from 10am to 6pm.
