Bangor youngster uses pocket money to deliver care packages to Ulster Hospital

A seven-year-old boy from Co Down, has given up his pocket money to buy treat bags for NHS workers at the Ulster Hospital affected by Coronavirus.

Freddie McMonagle, a pupil at Ballymagee Primary School in Bangor, used his money to buy and deliver the care packages to the hospital with the help of his mum Kerry.

Kerry told Belfast Live the kind act was very much part of Freddie’s nature.

She said: “His thing is emergency services - he’s always dressed up as a policeman or a paramedic or a doctor.

“On a regular basis he take  buns to the ambulance station in Bangor.

“We went to the Ulster Hospital and delivered some packages. I work for Schwartzkopf Professional and they kindly donated some sample products for Freddie to deliver to the hospital.

“Freddie then added with his own pocket money things like crisps, sweets and biscuits and took them up to the hospital.”

Kerry added that while Freddie may be acting in good faith, he also benefits from his good deeds as well.

She explained: “He does stuff like this all the time. Even today he made some buns and wants to bring them to to the ambulance station, but I don’t know if we are allowed to.”

“He has an ulterior motive as he likes to get in and look at the ambulances as well”
