Bangor student halls development set for auction next month

A student hall development in the heart of the university city of Bangor is set for auction.

The Bangor Railway Institute was demolished back in 2016 despite a local campaign to save the site.

It cleared the way for a development of student properties in the university city.

Bluebell Real Estate had previously placed the scheme on the market for offers around £895,000.

Now the 57 unit scheme is going to auction with Allsop.

It is set to be auctioned on September 17 with a guide price of offers over £275,000.

The listing does say there is the potential for alternative uses/development, subject to consents.

A spokesman said there was an opportunity because there was a "shortage of good quality student accommodation in Bangor City of the calibre now expected both by British and International students and their parents".

Bangor University has more than 12,000 students from 85 different countries - although there are concerns about how Covid-19 will impact the coming year.
