A man in his 30s remains in hospital this afternoon following a suspected paramilitary-style assault in Co Down last night.
Police say the male was reportedly assaulted in the area of the football pitches in Kilcooley, Bangor .
Detective Sergeant Westbury said: "It was reported that at around 8.00pm a man was in the area of the football pitches in the Kilcooley area when he was assaulted.
"The victim suffered injuries to his arm and was taken to hospital where he remains today.
“This was a despicable attack, and those involved in this type of attack do not represent the interests of any community, nor do they contribute anything to it.
“I want to appeal to anyone who was in the area last night and saw what occurred, or anyone who has information which may help our investigation and help identify those responsible for this despicable attack to pick up the phone and tell us what you know by calling detectives in Bangor on 101, and quoting reference number 1744 of 14/11/19.”
