A Bangor man says that he feels like he's 'spoofed half of Northern Ireland' after a Facebook post he made, about buying a cheap flight at Belfast International Airport so that he and some friends could drink in the airport bar, went viral.
Paul Strain shared a post on his Facebook this morning with a photo of a round of drinks and a boarding pass, saying: "When the pubs are closed and the only place serving is the airport so you & your mates book a £9.99 flight (that you're not getting on) so you can all go on the sesh!... #wheretheresawilltheresaway."
He tagged the post at Belfast International Airport, claiming he was accompanied by two pals Michael Haden and Nathan Sanders.
The post quickly went viral, with many praising the ingenuity of the trio and calling them "legends."
But now, Mr Strain has admitted that the post was a hilarious spoof that's ended up being picked up by hundreds.
"I've had hundreds of people who've asked if it was legit and I didn't know if I wanted to burst the bubble!" he told Belfast Live.
"But no, it was just an absolute cracking spoof, and I think we've managed to get half of Northern Ireland with it.
"If you look at my Facebook, it's all about having a few jokes and not taking life too seriously. So with this post we decided to add a bit of fun to the day - we didn't think it would get the response that it did.
"But here, it's definitely got us and a few hundred other people out there thinking maybe we should be checking Easyjet for cheap flights!"
