Bangor couple bake gingerbread Stormont complete with politicians to ease lockdown boredom

A Bangor couple who love baking have spent four days of the latest lockdown baking a gingerbread Stormont - complete with politicians.

Curtis Irvine says he and his partner Rosie were inspired to build the very accurate depiction of the big house on the hill after seeing other gingerbread creations.

After adding the icing to their creation, the pair planned to 'eat the executive' for NYE dessert.

Curtis told Belfast Live: "We were inspired by seeing other gingerbread houses from friends on social media, as well as the thought of another lockdown.

"We wanted to make the most of spending so much time inside and decided Stormont would be a fun challenge!"

Curtis said the whole creation took "four full mornings" to bake and that they "finished with the decorating" on New Year's Eve.

Since Rosie "loves baking" and he "love politics" he added that they thought it "would be a good way to combine them!"

"Devolution tastes good," adds Curtis.

Now the happy couple plan to "eat the executive for dessert" on New Year's Eve, "and then slowly make our way through the building this week!"
