Gideon Kipsang and Emma Mitchell took top honours at the Northern Ireland and Ulster Championship 10K in Bangor today.
Kipsang finished with an impressive time of 00:30:15 with MV45 Spartan Declan Reid second across the line with a time of 00:30:58 closely followed by North Belfast Harrier Conan McCaughey with a time of 00:30:58.
In the women’s race, Olympics contender Emma Mitchell was first across the line in a time of 00.34.44 with North Belfast Harrier Gladys Ganiel gaining second place with a recorded a time of 00.36.33. Edinburgh AC’s Lauren Wilson was third, completing the race in 00.37.11.

Tony Wall, Chairman of North Down Athletic Club which organised the race, said: “The atmosphere in Bangor today has been incredible, with more than 1,000 runners from across the country and beyond coming out to compete against each other and break personal bests.
“We encouraged all abilities to take part and the range of people who came out today was fantastic to see. Each participant should be proud of themselves.

“We are extremely grateful to Belfast City Airport for its ongoing support, helping to grow the race year on year.”
Emma Mitchell's coach Eamonn Christie said he was "delighted" with the performance.
He added: "It's nice to win another NI 10k road title. That’s three in last four years, but now it's back to another block of training."
Stephen Patton, HR & CR Manager at sponsor Belfast City Airport, added: “This is the third year that Belfast City Airport has supported the Bangor 10K and the event is always so well received by athletes and the supporters who come out on the day to cheer on the runners.
