Bangladesh paper defends press credibility

A leading Bangladeshi newspaper has countered criticism by the country's prime minister, Khaleda Zia, that the press's claim to credibility is unfounded. A Daily Star editorial takes Zia to task for saying that papers indulge in telling "imaginary tales". The paper says: "The media is simply carrying out its basic responsibilities". And it points to rising circulations as proof that the people support the media. (Via thedailystar.net)
