Second-place Bangkok United heaved a sigh of relief as their month-long winless streak in Thai League 1 came to an end at Chiang Rai United last night.

The 2-1 victory for the capital side, however, did not come in an easy fashion as they had to rally from a one-goal deficit in the away match.

Defending champions and league leaders Buriram United will be attempting to win their fifth straight game at Chonburi tonight and a victory will help the Thunder Castle retain their nine-point advantage over Bangkok United.

Bangkok United went into arrears only two minutes into the match when Siwakorn Tietrakul put the Beetles ahead.

The visitors equalised in the 18th minute as Robson Fernandes planted a short cross into the net.

Chiang Rai came back strong in the second half but wasted a couple of good scoring opportunities with William da Silva sending his shot over the bar and Bangkok United defender Everton Goncalves denying Rosimar.

Bangkok United picked up the winning goal when a curling long shot by Rungrat Poomchanthuk ended up in Chiang Rai goal in the 76th minute to ensure three points for the visitors.

Police Tero slumped two places into the relegation zone as their new high-profile coach Totchtawan Sripan failed to deliver again.

Police's fourth game under the former league-winning SCG Muang Thong United coach ended in 1-0 defeat at Port last night.

Sergio Suarez provided the decisive blow for third-placed Port at the hour mark.

Since signing Totchtawan last month, Police have been without a win in their past four matches under the former Thailand midfield maestro, conceding two losses and settling for a couple of draws.

Another big name coach Radovan Curcic, a former Serbia national and U21 teams manager, was also on the receiving end last night as his Muang Thong side suffered a shock 3-1 defeat at the hands of Bangkok Glass.

The Kirins have also been posting lacklustre results in the league of late, losing two matches and drawing another two, but have managed to cling to the fourth spot.

In an action-packed second half that saw all four goals being scored, former champions Muang Thong took the lead on 50 minutes when Jakson Coelho found the net.

The Kirins, boasting a number of former and current national team players in their squad, were hit by an avalanche as they conceded three goals in the last eight minutes of regulation play.

David Veloso produced the leveller for the Glass Rabbits, who are still staring at relegation, in the 82nd minute.

Bangkok Glass went ahead four minutes later when Daniel Rodriguez scored and Veloso was on target again a minute before the start of the injury time to complete the rout.

At His Majesty the King's 80th Birthday Anniversary stadium, Nakhon Ratchasima held on to a first half goal to edge Chainat at home.

Jakkrit Niyomsuk scored the winner in the 17th minute for the hosts who continued their impressive run which should help them survive in the top flight.

Four more matches are scheduled to be played tonight, with Buriram facing Chonburi, PT Prachuap hosting Air Force Central, Navy entertaining Ratchaburi and Pattaya United travelling to Suphanburi.
