Bangkok United kept pace with leaders Buriram United, scoring a 2-1 victory over Police Tero in the Thai League 1 match at True Stadium on Sunday night.
Bangkok United, with 42 points from 18 games, remained just two points behind the defending champions Buriram, who beat relegation strugglers Bangkok Glass 2-1 at Leo Stadium on Saturday.
First-half goals from midfield duo Vander Luis and Sumanya Purisai gave the home team the three points. Marcos Vinicius pulled one back for Police in the second half.
Vander Luis put the home team ahead in the 36th minute. The Brazilian star finished off a storming run through the middle with a long range strike that beat Police goalkeeper Nont Muangngam at the bottom corner.
Sumanya made it 2-0 with a beautiful individual goal six minutes later. Marcos' header cut the deficit with 20 minutes remaining.
At Khao Plong Stadium, Pattaya United climbed out of the relegation zone with a 2-1 away win at Chainat Hornbill.
Goals from Araujo Lukian (44th) and Woranat Thongkhruea (84th) gave the visitors a much-needed victory. Bernard Doumbia converted a 69th-minute penalty for the home team, who slipped to 14th and into the five-team drop zone.
Ratchaburi continued Air Force's sorry run after handing the bottom side their 15th loss of the season. Former Thailand player Sompong Soleb scored the winner for the visitors in the 34th minute.
At Sattahip, lowly Navy stunned Chonburi 3-1. Junior Vitor (33rd, 61st) and Amadou Ouattara (38th) scored for Navy while Marclei Santos (43rd) was on target for the Sharks.
On Saturday, hosts Nakhon Ratchasima and Suphanburi had a dramatic end to their game with three goals scored in stoppage time for a 2-2 draw.
Suphanburi twice took the lead with goals from Anderson Dos Santos (74th) and Romula (92nd) but were denied all three points by Metee Taweekulkarn in the sixth minute of injury time. Kittipat Wongsombat also scored for Nakhon Ratchasima in the 94th.
