Bangkok International Content Market aims to boost local film, TV and animation

The Bangkok International Content Market, Thailand's first business networking platform dedicated to film, series and animation, is scheduled to run from July 20-22 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok, marking a major milestone in country's ambition to become the "Content Hub of Asia".

Held under the umbrella of the Thailand Content Market 2026, the initiative aims to elevate Thai content onto the global stage while positioning the creative economy as a new engine of national growth.

The collaboration will strengthen Thailand's content ecosystem through international business opportunities, industry networking, and cross-border creative partnerships.

"BICM2026" represents a significant step towards establishing a comprehensive international marketplace for Thai and Asian content. The platform is designed to connect creators, producers, investors, distributors, broadcasters and global industry leaders to foster long-term collaboration and sustainable industry growth.

The event is expected to attract more than 300 leading international buyers, over 500 exhibitors, and upwards of 10,000 participants from across the global creative industry.

According to Thailand's 2020 Input-Output Table, investment in the content sector, particularly film and broadcasting, generates returns exceeding initial investment, with every 1 baht invested creating an average economic value of 1.8 baht. This underscores the industry's growing role as a key driver of economic development, employment, and soft power expansion.

One of the major highlights of BICM2026 is the Content Pitching and BICM Pitching Awards programme, which will showcase more than 55 selected projects from Thailand and the Asia-Pacific region. The platform will provide emerging and established creators with opportunities to present films, series, and original stories with strong production potential to international investors and producers.

The BICM Pitching Awards will include categories for Asian Project Pitching, Thai Project Pitching and Thai Story Pitching, with total prize funding of at least 668,250 baht to support projects in full-scale production.

The event will also feature the Creative Media Business Expansion Market, a dedicated B2B networking and exhibition space for film, series and animation businesses, alongside more than 500 exhibition booths showcasing creative services, studios, and production capabilities.

Industry forums and panel discussions featuring renowned experts and executives from Thailand and abroad will provide insights into emerging trends, future opportunities, and the evolving global content landscape.
