Bangkok Glass Public Company Limited, Thailand’s leading glass container manufacturer with customers including Singha and other top beverage brands, has announced its partnership with English soccer club Oxford United.
The move is made alongside Thai businessman Sumrith "Tiger" Thanakarnjanasuth, who recently acquired the club, fulfilling an ambition to support a famous football team as part of the company’s global branding.
“We are collaborating closely with the club to extend our business value and success into the sports arena,” said Pavin Bhirom Bhakdi, CEO Bangkok Glass Group of Companies. “By joining as a sponsor and providing a training centre, BG aims not only to strengthen the club’s potential to triumph but also to grow and develop sports among the community.”
Oxford United is one of the oldest clubs, with an over 100-year history. The club won the League Cup in 1985-1986. The club is currently in League One, England’s Division 3, where it sits fifth in the table early in the 2021-2022 season. The team recently pulled off a coup by signing Fulham’s rising star, Ben Davis, a 23 year-old half Thai player.
In strengthening the partnership, Oxford United’s training ground is renamed “The Bangkok Glass Training Centre”. It is the first time the training ground has been branded with a partnership trademark.
Along with BG, other leading Thai entities and brands, including Tourism Authority of Thailand, Singha Corporation, and Chaokoh have teamed up to pave the way for Thai brands to invade markets internationally and domestically.
Oxford United Managing Director Niall McWilliams welcomed Bangkok Glass, saying: “It is genuinely delightful and exciting for us to collaborate with a global brand that has a tight relationship with the sports industry and vast commercial experience with UK and global businesses.”
“This training centre is not only recognised as our home ground for our main team but also our academy. Our women’s team also trains here, as do local teams from schools and over 100 football clubs.”
“The Bangkok Glass Training Centre supports the Oxford community with facilities and opportunities for realising its growing football ambitions as well as its connections to local businesses.”
The move of this iconic Thai brand into the global arena not only raises the international profiles of both the company and the club but opens the door to opportunities for Thai youths and professional footballers to rise to new heights.
Stay tuned for news of top Thai soccer players destined to join the enterprise shortly.
