ATLANTA — The Mets have made their first trade of the regular season, and it’s only May.
The club acquired outfielder Cameron Maybin from the Chicago Cubs for cash only, the Mets announced on Tuesday.
He was assigned to Triple-A Syracuse, but a source said Maybin will soon be called up to the major-league roster.
Maybin, 34, has played for nine teams — including the Yankees in 2019 — across 14 years in the major leagues. A source said Maybin has outstanding makeup with a recent history of being a solid role player.
