Band on The Wall to host outdoor gigs at secret locations on touring truck

A host of secret gigs are set to be held at locations across Greater Manchester on a touring truck.

The gigs, hosted by venue Band on The Wall, will be launched on Saturday, May 22.

The announcement comes nine months after the legendary music venue closed its doors.

Bosses are looking to reopen in September this year following renovation work.

From 2pm each day, a line-up of emerging artists will perform on customised gig truck The Bandwagon in a public square somewhere in the region.

Performers include Mali Hayes, Agbeko, Werkha, Lieko Quintet and Marco Woolf, who featured in the Band on the Wall’s 2020 fundraising compilation album last year.

Band on the Wall will reveal the location of each gig on their social media feeds just before the Bandwagon arrives in town, organisers have said.

No tickets are required.

The audience will be comprised of members of the public who happen to be around at the time of the gig.

Visitors will be asked to check in via the NHS track and trace app as part of Covid safety measures.
