Banbridge company Kane Group bags £43M Canary Wharf build contract

A County Down building company has won a £43 million contract to design and build key infrastructure in two new residential units at Canary Wharf in London.

Kane Group has signed the contract with Canary Wharf Contractors to supply mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) within two blocks at the new Wood Wharf development.

The three-year contract begins in April 2023 and will see the Banbridge company work on two towers stretching to 34 and 49 storeys each. They will include 760 buy-to-rent residential units along with six guest suites, retail and amenity space.

The high end space is being built with the new way of hybrid working in mind and will include a working from home lounge, evening lounge, games room, multi-media room and dining rooms.

Some of the installations will be prefabricated off site, including service corridor modules and utility cupboards.

“Kane are delighted to have secured this MEP residential scheme on behalf of our Client, Canary Wharf Contractors,” Cathal McMullan, Managing Director at Kane Group, said. “We will utilise our in-house prefabrication expertise to deliver off-site construction solutions on this project.

“Our experienced and innovative project team look forward to working on this central London project.”

Kane Group has worked with Canary Wharf Contractors previously on the £24 million Southbank Place project.
