NEW YORK _ Spring was blooming over the weekend at Banana Republic's New York Fashion Week presentation. But there's no need to wait until then to take home the looks.
Collections that premiere during the September fashion typically aren't available for several months. But Banana Republic is one of many retailers opting for the see now/buy now format in which trends show up immediately on social media and on the market.
Fifteen pieces _ including shirt dresses, a fringe sweatshirt, a cropped moto jacket and a couple of Italian suede shoulder bags _ went on sale at BananaRepublic.com and Banana Republic's Flatiron store in New York City following the event. They were curated by brand style ambassador Olivia Palermo.
The rest of the collection will hit stores early next year. Inspired by the colors and landscapes of India, the brand showed checkered suits and separates, unassuming paisley prints, sophisticated-yet-wearable textures and neutrals punched up with pops of color.
