'Ban them!' - Chelsea and Arsenal fans can't believe Man United's transfer deadline day swoop

All eyes are cast towards the final hours of the January transfer window and a surprise move from Manchester United has got plenty talking on social media.

With United desperately seeking a new striker, attention has turned to former Watford striker Odion Ighalo - who is currently plying his trade in China.

A six-month loan deal is widely reported to go through before the transfer window slams shut at 11pm, in what is one of the weirdest deals of recent moves of recent years.

Premier League transfer round-up: Arsenal sign Cedric Soares

While there are some memories of him scoring goals in the Premier League, he managed just once in his final 18 games for the Hornets in the league before moving to the Far East.

Naturally, rival fans couldn't risk the opportunity to mock their United counterparts on social media - with many amused by the fact some fans were adamant it is a good signing.

Take a look at what's been said on Twitter...

What makes it worse is that the window started with United keen on bringing Erling Haaland to the club, only to see Borussia Dortmund win the race for the Red Bull Salzburg forward.

It remains to be seen whether this deal will go through but fans across the Premier League will be keeping tabs on the situation.

The window officially closes at 11pm.
