Ban on alcohol at gigs being considered by Government to get them back going

A ban on alcohol at at gigs is being considered by the government as a way to allow them to get back underway.

Arts Minster Catherine Martin and Health Minister Stephen Donnelly are meeting with campaigners on Monday to discuss the options to get the sector going again, according to the Irish Times.

Current COVID-19 regulations allow for 50 people to attend the likes of museums, cinemas, and theatres, as they are deemed to be "controlled environments".

But all other indoor events are currently subject to a six person limit.

Allowing events to take place both indoors and outdoors are expected to be discussed.

Making events alcohol free is one big option being considered, with Ms Martin keen to allow gigs to get the green light.
