'Bamford's broken the curse!' Leeds United fans revel in striker's match-winning display at Preston

Leeds United returned to the top two on Tuesday evening, as a Patrick Bamford brace secured a 2-0 win at Preston North End.

The Whites forward opened the scoring in the 62nd minute, 13 minutes after the hosts had been reduced to ten men following Ben Pearson's dismissal.

Bamford's superb 25-yard shot whistled past Declan Rudd in the North End goal after a frustrating first half where Leeds failed to take their chances.

After Bamford had ended a three-match barren goalscoring run he soon added a second, when he headed in a Mateusz Klich cross following good work from Pablo Hernandez with quarter of an hour remaining.

Leeds have now returned to the automatic promotion places ahead of Sheffield United's trip to Birmingham City on Wednesday evening.

But the evening belonged to Bamford, who had received plenty of criticism over the past two matches, but responded in style on the other side of the Pennines.

Check out how Leeds fans reacted in the video above.
