The mayor of Baltimore has urged Donald Trump to cancel his Memorial Day trip to the city as the president lashed out at Michigan's attorney general for threatening legal action over his unmasked trip to the Ford factory.
Mayor Bernard Young issued a statement to Twitter on Thursday night saying the president's non-essential travel "sends the wrong message".
"Stay at home!" he Tweeted.
Mr Bernard wrote in a statement that Baltimore would be prepared for the president's planned trip to Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine to celebrate Memorial Day.
"I wish that the president, as our nation's leader, would set a positive example and not travel during this holiday weekend," he said.
"In addition to the president sending a conflicting message to our residents, his visit, requires personnel and equipment, and has a price tag that our city, which is still dealing with the loss of roughly $20 million in revenue per month, simply can't afford to shoulder."
Mr Trump is currently locked in a feud over his latest trip to Michigan on Thursday when he visited the Ford factory without wearing a mask, leading the state's attorney general Dana Nessel to say the president wasn't welcome back.
Ms Nessel threatened legal action against Ford for allowing the president to enter their facilities without wearing a mask, although Mr Trump maintains he did wear a mask for portions of the visit.
"The president is a petulant child who refuses to follow the rules, and I have to say, this is no joke," Ms Nessel told CNN.
In a tweetstorm on Thursday night, Mr Trump said "wacky do nothing" Ms Nessel shouldn't take her "anger and stupidity" out on Ford or they might leave the state.
