More than 40 men marched from Baltimore, Maryland to Washington DC on Monday to protest violent crime.

Members from the 300 Men March, a grass-roots organisation protesting violent crime in Baltimore, brought their message to the National Mall. The group's message is to denounce the hundreds of homicides the city faces each year.
The group's founder Munir Bahar told WUSA-9 that the walk to Washington is not "convenient" nor a "luxury" but it's something that needed to be done.
"We need men specifically to get off the couch, to get involved in these young peoples' lives in the community and really take it as a personal thing. Take ownership of the violence," he said.
"Take responsibility for your own community and step into these young folks' lives, be the intervention that is needed to really guide them away from making these life altering decisions."

The group embarked on their journey around 6:00pm on Sunday night and arrived in at the nation's capital around 1:00pm on Monday afternoon. Members reportedly said that while the march is now over, there is much more work to be done to prevent further violence in their city.
The Baltimore Sun reported that more than 200 people have been killed in the city in 2014 alone.
