Ballysallagh Road reduced to one lane after lorry stuck under bridge

A notorious Co Down bridge has caught yet another lorry out this morning causing traffic congestion in the area.

The Ballysallagh Road just off A2 has been reduced to one lane after the lorry got stuck under the low bridge on outskirts of Bangor .

A PSNI spokesperson: "Following a report of a lorry having hit a bridge, the Ballysallagh Road, Bangor is blocked (Bangor bound). Motorists are asked to seek alternative routes."

Last year, the bridge was closed for several weeks to repair damage caused by heavy good vehicles striking it.

It reopened on November 22 much to the delight of locals who had expressed frustration due to diversions in the area and traffic buildup.

It is understood additional warning signs were erected on both sides of the bridge to further highlight the presence of a low bridge.
