Ballynahinch Road Dromara incident - cyclist dies after being found collapsed

A cyclist has died after being found collapsed on a Co Down road.

The man was found shortly after 1pm on the Ballynahinch Road in Dromara on Saturday, April 6.

Emergency services were called but tragically the man was pronounced dead at the scene. At this stage, his death is not being treated as suspicious.

Ballynahinch Road Dromara closed as police attend incident  

Inspector McGuigan said: "Police received a report that a male cyclist had been found collapsed on the Ballynahinch Road in Dromara at around 1:05pm  yesterday afternoon.

"Police and NIAS attended the scene. Sadly, the man was subsequently pronounced dead. At this stage, the death is not being treated as suspicious.

"The road was closed at the junctions with the Stewarts Road and Hillsborough Road, but has since re-opened.

"There are no further details at this time."
