Ballymurphy incident: Man charged with number of offences

A man has been charged with a number of offences following an incident in which a number of people are alleged to have been hurt in Ballymurphy.

Police were called to the area of West Belfast around 11am on Friday after reports of a disturbance involving a number of homes.

A 31-year-old man was subsequently arrested and is now facing allegations including GBH, common assault and assault on police.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police have charged a 31-year-old man with a number of offences following an incident in the Ballymurphy area of West Belfast yesterday, Friday August 6.

"The man has been charged with offences including grievous bodily harm with intent, common assault and assault on police.

"The man is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court on Monday August 9.

"As is usual procedure all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service."
