Ballymun residents evacuated from homes due to suspected pipe bomb

Residents in north Dublin have been evacuated from their homes tonight due to a suspected pipe bomb.

Locals in the Poppintree area of Ballymun were called from their homes just after 9pm this evening.

The Knowth Court area of the estate is currently sealed off with the Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal on site.

A garda spokesman told Dublin Live: "Gardaí received reports of a suspect device at approximately 9pm this evening, Wednesday 19 February, in the Popintree area of Ballymun.

"The area is currently cordoned off and the Army EOD team are currently at the scene. Investigations are ongoing."
