Ballymoney police charge two people after baby taken to hospital

Two people have been charged after a baby was allegedly injured in Co Antrim .

Police held the scene at a house at Rockfield Gardens in Mosside, Ballymoney, from Friday night.

It is understood the five-week-old baby was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital .

Police said on Sunday that two people had been charged with a range of offences.

A spokesman said: "A man, aged 30-years-old, and a woman, aged 31-years-old, have both been charged with cruelty to children, grievous bodily harm with intent and causing or allowing a child or vulnerable adult to suffer serious physical harm.

"As is normal procedure, the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service."

The pair are due to appear at Coleraine Magistrates Court on Monday.
