Ballymena United to reward fans who make trip to Faroe Islands for Europa League tie

Ballymena United are set to reward supporters who travel to the Faroe Islands next week for the club's Europa League qualifier.

The Sky Blues host NSI Runavik this Thursday before travelling for the away leg in Toftir on July 4.

And the Showgrounds club has announced that any fan who makes the trip will receive free match entry and return transport from Tórshavn to the match in Toftir.

"We are delighted to announce that supporters travelling to the Faroe Islands for the second leg of the UEFA Europa League tie will receive their match entry and return transport from Tórshavn to the match in Toftir courtesy of Ballymena United," Ballymena said on their Facebook page.

"Following the confirmation of arrangements for the tie, chairman John Taggart was pleased to inform supporters that the club have secured transport and match tickets to reward those who will have made the long journey to follow the Sky Blues."

Ballymena chairman Taggart added: “From the outset we have been very clear that as a club we can only move forward when we are as one, United.

"It is one thing for supporters to show up week in, week out in the Irish League - it is entirely a different matter when supporters take multiple flights at great personal expense to lend their backing to their team.

"The very least we can do is to show our appreciation, on behalf of the team, by offering this gesture to make their match day run a bit smoother.”
