Ballymena United have clarified their position on the all-island football league proposals.
The Sky Blues issued a statement after the Irish FA broke its silence and said it would not sanction any of its member clubs to take part in the new league model .
Proposals for the new league include the introduction of a new 14-team top tier and two 10-team regionalised divisions combining clubs from both the NIFL and FAI leagues.
Clubs from north and south of the border - including Ballymena - gathered in Dundalk last Thursday to get a look at the plans from Kerry businessman Kieran Lucid.
Ballymena's statement read: "We note today’s statement from the Irish FA regarding the recent discussion around an all island league.
"Ballymena United attended the recent presentation in Dundalk following an initial meeting earlier this season.
"Whilst there were aspects of the conversations that were interesting, we are in full agreement with Patrick Nelson’s earlier comments, and are fully committed to continued membership of NIFL which we feel is most appropriate for Ballymena United and its supporter base."
The IFA's statement on Thursday was also followed by a response from Kerry businessman Kieran Lucid , the man behind the proposals.
"We note the announcement of the IFA. The project we have embarked on is to support and improve the lot of professional football clubs on the island of Ireland," Lucid said.
"We remain focused on that objective.
"A considerable amount of work has been done to date; clubs are being regularly updated and being consulted with as we make progress.
"That work will continue."
