Ballymena United have confirmed that Leroy Millar sustained a fracture of the fourth metatarsal during Tuesday night's NI League Cup defeat to Crusaders .
The 24-year-old - who recently celebrated his 150th appearance for the Sky Blues - limped off after 70 minutes of the quarter-final tie at the Showgrounds.
Millar's injury is likely to sideline the midfielder for several weeks.
Manager David Jeffrey has described the injury as "terrible news" for the club.
He added: “To receive confirmation of Leroy’s injury this morning is of course terrible news for the club, but for Leroy this is personally devastating and he is our primary concern in all this.
"We are gutted for Leroy, and will ensure that all efforts will be made to ensure as swift and robust rehabilitation to get him recuperated.
"In the week that we have been celebrating Ballymena United legends, Leroy has already begun to establish a reputation for himself, not only as a local young man, but as an integral part of the squad, and there is no doubt his injury is a big loss to us in the meantime.”
