Ballymena United boss David Jeffrey addresses concerns over transfer activity

David Jeffrey has addressed concerns over Ballymena United's lack of new signings so far this transfer window.

The Sky Blues have lost a number of experienced personnel since the end of last season, including defenders Jim Ervin and Jonathan Addis.

Kofi Balmer also joined Larne while exciting youngster Trai Hume has returned to Linfield following his successful loan spell.

Other names have exited the Showgrounds in recent weeks, including Tony Kane, Ryan Harpur, James Knowles, Joe McCready and Ross Glendinning.

Jeffrey admits it has been a "challenging time" for the club, but insists they are not in "panic mode".

In a statement shared with fans, the Sky Blues boss said: "Whilst there have been a number of departures from the Showgrounds, don't let that fool you that there isn't an immense amount of work going on to replenish the squad.

"What we are able to do is maximise our budget and our squad space given the league limits in the number of players allowed over 21, outside of homegrown players.

"It is a challenging time for us, that is no doubt. And people will see what the top clubs are doing but we know where we want to get to and we are working away in the background on that.

"The same could have been said this time last year, and we went on to add the likes of McCartan, McElroy, Waide and Redman to the squad.

"So we are certainly in no panic mode."
