A teenager has been arrested after a 'report of a burglary' at a jewellery store in Co Antrim this afternoon.
Police were called to the scene in the Church Street area of Ballymena after it was reported two men had made off from the store with a quantity of jewellery.
Footage of the alleged incident appearing to show the one of the men running from the store carrying a tray has emerged on social media.
Inspector Reid said: “Shortly after 1:10pm, it was reported that two men entered a jewellers in the Church Street area. The males then made off from the scene with a quantity of jewellery from the shop. One male was detained shortly after the incident.
“An 18 year old man was arrested on suspicion of theft. He remains in police custody".
On Sunday police confirmed a second man, age 31 had also been arrested on suspicion of theft. He remains in custody at this time along with the 18-year-old man,
Police added: “Enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 859 20/06/20.
