The victim of a fatal stabbing in Ballymena this morning has been named by police as 31-year-old Jason Lee Martin.
Detectives from the PSNI’s Major Investigation Team investigating the stabbing incident at a house in the Orkney Drive in the early hours of this morning have appealed for witnesses.
Detective Inspector Kerry Brennan said: “Jason died after he was stabbed whilst in a house in the early hours of this morning.
“An 18 year old male was arrested on suspicion of murder and he remains in custody at this stage.
“I am appealing for anyone with information that could potentially assist the investigation to please get in touch by calling 101.
"Or alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
Alliance Councillor Patricia O’Lynn said the local community will be in shock.
“My thoughts are with the victim and his loved ones. I offer my deepest sympathies to them,” said Councillor O’Lynn.
“The local community in Ballykeel, as well as wider across Ballymena, will be in shock hearing this tragic news.
“I urge anyone with information on this shocking incident to contact police with it immediately.”
