Gardai investigating the "callous" murder of a dad-of-two say they still have yet to establish a motive.
Michael Tormey, 49, was shot a number of times outside his home on Thomond road, Ballyfermot, west Dublin just before 5am on Sunday morning.
Mr Tormey, along with family members, had attended a social gathering on Saturday evening before returning home at around 3.30am.
Gardai are now satisfied that there is no connection with the party and to his murder.
Speaking outside Ballyfermot Garda Station this evening, Supt Tony Twomey branded the shooting as a "callous attack" and that Mr Tormey's wife and one of his daughters were in the home at the time.
He appealed for anyone with information to come forward, particularly those in the area between 3.30am and 5am. He also asked anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage to contact gardai.
The senior officer said: "We have a full investigation team assigned to this and we are happy we will establish a motive with time."
He said gardai are satisfied that Mr Tormey had no links to criminality.

The investigation team involves 20 officers who are "making progress" in the investigation.
However they have yet to establish if more than one person confronted Mr Tormey at his door or what getaway car, if any, was used.
Addressing concerns from the community, Supt Twomey said: "I am aware of the concerns in the Ballyfermot community and I want to reassure that the necessary policing response through investigation and proactive policing will be provided to allay their concerns."
Mr Tormey, a former pub doorman, was originally from the Tallaght area.
Local cllr Hazel De Nortuin was at the scene and said she knew him personally.
The People Before Profit politician said: "He was a very nice man. He's well-known and liked by his friends.
"I couldn't pay good enough tribute to him and I think you'll see that as things unfold throughout the day and the rest of the week. It was completely unexpected.
"It's a very sensitive issue and it's still unfolding but I just want to pass on my condolences to Mick's wife and family.
"You would have never expected this to happen to him. He was a very nice man and a great singer.
"I've only got good words to say about him - he was a very decent man."
