Ballycastle crash claims life of motorcyclist

A motorcyclist has died following a crash in Co Antrim.

Police have confirmed the man died after a two-vehicle road crash in Ballycastle which was reported just before 3pm on Wednesday, June 2.

It happened on the Cushendall Road and involved a Kawasaki motorcycle and a Cherokee Jeep.

Officers attended and say the male rider of the motorbike was pronounced dead at the scene.

A PSNI spokesperson added: "Anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have captured it on their dash cam, is asked to call police on 101, quoting reference number 1217 of 02/06/21.

"The Cushendall Road was closed for a time, but it has since re-opened."

At the time of the crash, Police Causeway Coast and Glens said: "The Cushendall Road, Ballycastle has been closed due to a collision. Diversions along Torr Road from Ballyvoy village & from Watertop Farm directions. Torr Road not suitable for HGVs. All motorists should seek an alternative route."
