Ballot for tickets to Glastonbury Festival 2020 opens - how to enter and the rules

People who were unsuccessful in their bid to secure tickets to Glastonbury Festival 2020 have been handed a lifeline - in the form of a ticket ballot.

Glastonbury 2020 will take place from June 24 to 28, 2020, and this year its capacity will be bigger than ever as it celebrates its 50th anniversary.

To mark the milestone, organisers are giving away 50 pairs of tickets to those who registered to buy tickets but missed out last week.

A record 2.4 million people registered to get their hands on one of the 140,000 tickets up for grabs, meaning many were left dissapointed.

The ballot, which has been announced to mark the landmark event, opened today (October 9) and runs until 5pm on October 31.

The Glastonbury ticket resale has also been confirmed for April 2020.

A festival spokesperson said: "To commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the first Glastonbury Festival, we have held back 50 pairs of tickets for Glastonbury 2020 which will be sold to entrants selected via a ballot (the ‘Ballot’).

"Anyone with a current valid registration, and who has been unsuccessful in securing tickets in the public ticket sales on Thursday and Sunday now has the chance to enter the ballot to win an extra chance to purchase up to two general admission tickets.

"Registrants will have from 12pm on Wednesday, October 9 until 5pm on Thursday, October 31 2019 to enter up to two registrations they wish to enter in the ballot as one entry (any duplicate entries or entries with existing ticket bookings will not be processed)."

The spokesperson added that the winning 50 entrants will be contacted in early November with details of how to purchase their tickets.

How to enter

To enter the ballot, visit the Glastonbury Festival website.

Remember that any duplicate entries or entries with existing ticket bookings will not be processed.
